The goal of the MCP thumb splint is to help support thumbs. Commonly used for stabilizing or supporting a weakened MCP thumb joint. It will stop hyper-extension and take the stress off of the this joint as well as preserve function when continuously in use. This splint has a positive effect on the CMC Joint.

This splint is also being used by professionals to preserve the integrity of the Thumb MCP joint in their realm of practice; for example Physio Therapy, Massage Therapy, Dentistry, Surgical.

This Splint requires some sort of anchoring system. Our standard is with an expansion bracelet. This bracelet is effective but not overly pretty. It holds the splint tightly in place while still allowing movement as it expands as you move. It sits tight against the skin and may pinch delicate skin. We do have a leather sleeve that can be purchased to protect from any pinching.

The alternative to the expansion bracelet is an Anchor Ring. This ring is a separate 5mm silver band which is worn with the splint. This option is very comfortable, however, if your hands swell the anchor ring may become tight. Swelling can occur due to activity level, or hot/humid weather, or inflammation of joints. There is an extra cost for the anchor ring.

Additional Options:

MCP Palmar Support round
Palmar Support – An extra ring can be added to the volar side of the splint to create additional support for subluxed MCP joints.
