Frequent Questions
01.How can I adjust my splint?
01. How do I get a Digisplint?
There are two options to acquire our splints. We would be happy to see you directly at our office in Exeter, Ontario. We would need to set up an appointment with you; at that appointment we are able to assess, measure, build and fit you with splints so that when you leave you are wearing your splints.
The other option is to have a therapist (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, hand therapist) or other qualified health professional assess and measure your fingers. We will be happy to send to your current therapist or doctor our measuring kit and instructions so they can fit you with a Digisplint. They will be capable of determining the correct type of splint and the correct size of splint for you and will fax or email the order to us. Once we have received payment, we will manufacture the splint and ship them to you. If you are currently not working with a therapist, please contact us and we will see if there is someone in your area who has our measuring kit.
02. Are they covered by benefits?
Most insurance companies will cover the cost of these splints if you have a prescription from a doctor. Coverage is under Custom Orthopedic Splints. We suggest you contact your insurance company to see if the splints will be covered.
03. What if my splint needs repair or adjustment?
Return your splint to us with a description of the problem as well as your name, address and telephone number. Package it carefully in a box and send it to our mailing address. If a new size is required, place the splint in a box along with a note stating the new size, contact name, phone number and return mailing address and send it to our mailing address. We will resize any splint at no charge for the first 6 months after the purchase date. There will be a charge for any resizing’s after that.
04. Is there any guarantee?
Yes. We offer a one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
05. How will I know which type of splint I require?
Your therapist or physician has the training and experience to choose the correct type of splint, measure for the best fit, and provide the proper follow-up care for you.
06. Why is adjustability important?
As you experience slight changes in your finger size due to swelling, you can tighten or loosen the splint to accommodate your needs. They can also be adjusted to improve function by allowing or blocking varying degrees of flexion depending on your individual needs.
07. What are the benefits of this type of splint?
These splints are long lasting, easily adjustable, provide a comfortable fit and have a pleasing appearance. As well, they are hypoallergenic, and hygienically superior. The splints can also be worn for all activities.
08. What do Digisplints do?
Digisplints can improve hand function, prevent or correct deformities and normalize the appearance of the hand. They can also relieve chronic pain, promote healing, provide post-surgical stabilization, or alleviate the need for costly hand surgery.
